Q: Is this trip really free??
A: Yes, Taglit-Birthright Israel is a unique partnership between the people of Israel through their government, local Jewish communities (North American Jewish Federations through the United Jewish Communities, Keren Hayesod, and The Jewish Agency for Israel).

Q: Who can go?
A: Any Jewish young adult in the 18-26 age range who has never before visited Israel on a peer-group program is eligible to apply for the gift. That's all! No catch!
Q: Yeah... but is it safe??
A: Yes!! Every trip has an armed security guard and medic with them at all times. Check out Hillel's Safety and Security page for further reassurance for you and your worried parents.
Q: Is this a religious trip?
A: No, although there will be some Jewish traditional events and other religious options for participants, each student should feel extremely comfortable that this trip will not be pushing a religious agenda on you. This trip is about discovering what Israel means to you, whether through a religious context or not.
Q: When is the trip?
A: The trip will be for 10 days during Virginia Tech's winter break. We won't know the actual dates until after registration, but if you have a conflict and need to back out you WILL NOT be penalized for future birthright participation.
Q: Who's going?
A: If selected, you will be on a bus of mostly (or entirely) all Virginia Tech or Radford students as well as 2 staff members (also both probably from Virginia Tech).
Q: Ok, so if it's really free, what's all this business about a $250 deposit?
A: You are required to pay a $250 refundable deposit in order for your registration to be complete. If you are not selected to go on the trip you will be refunded this deposit. If you are selected to go on this trip you will ALSO be refunded this deposit (free trip, remember?). This deposit is necessary so that a student doesn't sign up and back out at the last minute after Birthright has already purchased his or her ticket from the airline.
Q: Can I see a sample itinerary of what I will be doing?
A: Yep, Sample Itinerary
Q: Can I extend my trip if I want?
A: Definitely. You can stay longer in Israel... 30 to 90 days depending on the airline. And you can arrange for your extension before the trip of during the trip. Extra fees do apply. All of the details are in Kesher's Pre-Trip Prep section. Unfortunately, it's not possible to arrive in Israel ahead of the group...
Q: Will I meet young hot Israeli soldiers?
A: YESSSS (6-8 Israeli soldiers will join your Birthright group for around 5 days)
Q: Are there female soldiers too?
A: YESSSSSS
